Total Cholesterol on TRT
What the number means, why it moves on a protocol, and what people usually do about it.
What it is
Total cholesterol is HDL, LDL and the rest added up. On its own it says little; divided by HDL it becomes one of the better risk numbers.
The range
TRT-aware target
under 200 mg/dL
How to read the lab range
Labs quote under 200 mg/dL (5.0 mmol/L). A high total with a high HDL is fine; a normal total with a low HDL is not.
Why it moves on a protocol
- Follows LDL and HDL: dose, orals, diet, cardio.
What people usually do · not a recommendation
- Read the ratio (total divided by HDL) rather than the total. Under 3.5 is where people aim; over 5 is the risk zone.
How Magno reads it
Import the PDF or a photo of the report and Magno finds Total Cholesterol on it, keeps every test on one line, shows the change since the last one, and reads it against TRT-aware thresholds rather than the lab's generic range. The panel it belongs to, Lipids, gets a written verdict with the probable causes and what people usually do.

Questions people ask
My total cholesterol is high but my doctor is not worried, why?
Because the split matters. A high HDL lifts the total without adding risk. Check the ratio and LDL.
